The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has created a framework to support educational organisations in empowering learners to engage in our digital society. The American School of Bombay (ASB) has implemented the use of the ISTE standards to ensure that learning is relevant to the needs of the twenty-first century and beyond. Organisations must have a plan in place to ensure that learners can adapt to the continuously changing global climate. The ISTE standards for teachers and students facilitate the development of innovative mindsets so that technology users have the skills in place to adapt to the changes.
Embedding these standards into units of study enhances discussions of how we as educators can use technology to increase student’s ability to collaborate globally, creatively communicate, and use critical thinking to access reliable information. They guide planning to cultivate innovative mindsets of our students as they engage with content standards.
