How can leaders use technology to promote and implement systemic change within schools to develop the skills, mindsets, and values needed to adapt to a rapidly changing environment?
Schools need to use allotted funds for educators to participate in professional development that empowers, inspires, and enables all stakeholders to inquire into how educational institutions can prepare students for a complex future.
One challenge is changing the system to allow for the needed innovations. Schools need to become a place where risk-taking and failure are not only accepted but encouraged. The entire school community (parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community members) must value and prioritize the need to change. School leaders must communicate a vision backed by research to develop a common understanding and create buy-in.
In the article, How to Take Risks In A System Not Built For It (What Teachers Can Learn From Elon Musk), A.J. Julianna discusses the challenges faced when a system is not designed to support risks of failure that are inevitable when innovating.
“If something is important enough, you should try, even if the probable outcome is failure.” -Elon Musk

Well said, and I love the quote!
